An innovative entrepreneur who has co-founded and led the evolution of several successful healthcare companies. Joel served as the founder and CEO of Paladin Healthcare, which managed the operations of seven hospitals comprising more than $1.2B in annual revenue, including six owned by Paladin affiliates and Howard University Hospital.
He co-founded CompWest Insurance, a workers compensation insurer acquired by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
He was also the CEO of Paladin Investment Banking, which completed more than 200 transactions totaling over $4 billion for underperforming businesses, including $1 billion in healthcare.
Over the past two decades, he has been deeply involved in the US Healthcare landscape, serving as a founding member of the Healthcare Policy Advisory Council for Harvard Medical School and Chairman of Harvard’s Healthcare Markets and Regulations Lab.
He also served on the Board of the Leonard D. Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics at the University of Southern California, and as National Council Co-Chair for the American Enterprise Institute.
His accomplishments earned him numerous awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Congressional Black Caucus and National Minority Quality Forum, presented to individuals who have worked to eliminate healthcare disparities.

Ravi Sharma is among the healthcare industry’s leading information technology experts.
Early in his career, he led the implementation of GE Healthcare’s CRM initiative, GE Cares.
He was recruited by Toshiba America Medical Systems to head up its US Operations, developing its North American strategy and dramatically growing its diagnostic imaging business in a declining market. He then returned to GE Healthcare to serve as General Manager of its Northeast operation, transforming the zone from the worst to best performer among its five regional divisions in less than a year. He was handpicked to be the first Global Director of GE’s Six Sigma business, where he established and managed its worldwide strategy.
Ravi left GE to serve as CEO of three early-stage healthcare technology companies, each of which he built into successful operations providing cloud-based clinical integration solutions to a wide range of healthcare companies.
He subsequently served as CTO and COO for a large health system encompassing seven hospitals. Ravi served as the CEO of Peritus Advisors, which implemented operations and technology solutions for numerous hospitals and health systems.
Ravi has a deep understanding of transformational technologies across the healthcare spectrum that offer the potential to increase efficiency, improve quality, and enhance engagement.

Teryna brings over two decades of healthcare operations and transaction expertise to Livity. She launched her healthcare career with a private equity firm, where she led hospital mergers and acquisitions, focusing on stabilizing financially challenged facilities. Over the past decade, she has held various C-suite positions, including CEO, COO, and CHRO, primarily in turnaround situations.
She has a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of hospital operations, human resources, labor management, and union negotiations, including a proven track record in enhancing physician engagement, fostering collaboration, improving patient outcomes, and optimizing labor costs through increased efficiency and flexibility. She has also successfully renegotiated multiple union contracts.
Before her healthcare career, Teryna amassed over 20 years of finance experience at Connecticut Capital Management and Bridgewater Associates. As the founder of “Where the Roads Come Together,” she developed an extensive network of non-profit and venture capitalist contacts, showcasing her expertise in grant writing and fundraising.

With more than 40 years of experience in hospital administration, Dr. Shirley Evers-Manly, PhD, RN, ADNL, FAAN, is a distinguished healthcare leader and an expert on revenue cycle, dedicated to providing high-quality health care services, clinical development, academic leadership, and community outreach. Using her extensive expertise, Dr. Evers-Manly transforms underperforming hospitals into thriving institutions, ensuring high-quality and sustainable healthcare. She previously served as the Managing Director of Clinical Development at Paladin Healthcare Management, where she oversaw the clinical operations of all Paladin-managed hospitals. Notably, she played a pivotal role in the turnaround of Howard University Hospital, serving as Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Patient Services leading operational, systems and quality improvements to enhance patient care and outcomes. Most recently, she served as a Professor and the Dean of the School of Nursing at Alcorn State University, furthering her commitment to nursing education and leadership.
Throughout her career, Dr. Evers-Manly has developed and implemented clinical, academic, and community-based programs focused on vulnerable populations. In addition to her role as Principal Investigator, she has served a Co-Investigator of multiple grants, including one awarded in collaboration with Jackson State through the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) as part of its Public Health Informatics & Technology Workforce Development Program. Funded through the American Rescue Plan, the program aimed to strengthen U.S. public health information technology (IT) efforts, improve COVID-19 data collection, and increase representation of underserved communities within the public health IT workforce, the Aim 2 Care Multiple Chronic Conditions training grant, Bridges to the Doctorate, and Song Brown Student Success grants. She also leads the Global Health Initiatives for the National Black Nurses Association where she serves as first Vice President and chairs the Finance Committee.

Her numerous accolades include induction into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing's Inaugural Leadership Hall of Fame, Alpha Eta Chapter (UCSF) and induction in the Inaugural National Black Nurses Association Academy of Diversity Nurse Leaders. Amongst her numerous awards, she has received recognition for Outstanding Community Service by the California State Senate and the United States Congress. Dr. Evers-Manly serves as volunteer faculty at the University of California, San Francisco, School of Nursing, and as the former Regional Chair for Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, overseeing 26 chapters. Dr. Evers-Manly was also the Chair of the Mississippi Institute of Higher Learning Deans and Directors and she was the Chair of the Washington DC Chief Nursing Officers, at the Washington, DC Hospital Association. As a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, she is internationally recognized for her work in academia, oncology and health disparities, advocating for the elimination of health disparities and inequities worldwide.
